Work Advantage Program 1st "Women At Work" Women's Forum A Success- December 18, 2008

Good Morning All,

On behalf of the Work Advantage Program team, I just want to reach out to say "THANK YOU" for attending our 1st "Women At Work" Forum. We think it turned out wonderfully and we look forward to continue working with you.

The audience truly benefited greatly as they received; inspirational thoughts, job, career and training opportunities, general information and learned about ways to become empowered. It was a true success and a ground breaking event for Arbor Education & Training.

Our 2nd "Women At Work" Women's Forum is set for February 19, 2009. Hope to see you there!

Retention Specialist - Making A Difference

Being a Retention Specialist I make a great effort to let the clients know that I am here to help and direct them. If I can not assist them, I will find out the proper information or direct them to the proper dept. I give all of my clients the same attention and consideration. My goal has always been to make sure they know how to handle issues that may cause them to leave their job or try to help them find something else so that they will continue to be self sufficient. It is a great feeling to know you can help someone in need.

W. Andrews

W. Andrews is a 20 year old young man who has been in temporary housing since the age of 14.

At our first meeting it was clear that Mr. Andrews was extremely shy and lacked the social skills needed for job search, but due to his past circumstances this was very understandable. Mr. Andrews showed interest in the security field and was sent to attend Security training, however upon completion of the training Mr. Andrews attended a few job readiness workshops, mock interviews and a customer service certification course to prepare him for the upcoming interviews now that he has a trade under his belt. The road to employment was tough but Mr. Andrews was very diligent in his job search and successfully secured a security position at the Brooklyn IKEA. Mr. Andrews proved that if you are aggressive and driven you can accomplish what you strive for.

Mr. Harris

Mr. Harris is a single dad with two children.

Mr. Harris has been residing in Temporary Housing for several months with his two sons. Mr. Harris struggled to obtain employment independently, until he linked with Arbor E & T. Mr. Harris has obtained full-time employment with 1199 benefits. Mr. Harris and his family are in the process of transitioning back into independent living. Mr. Harris has overcome several obstacles throughout his process of becoming self-sufficient. If he can do it, so can you! "Stay Motivated."
